Mark Vernon Brooks, Age 72, of Detroit, MI passed away August 19, 2019.
Mark Vernon Brooks, Sr. was born April 19, 1947 to the union of Fred George Brooks and Dorothy Brooks Baker in Bristol, West Virginia. He attended the Bluefield Public Schools where he graduated from Bluefield High School in 1965. Soon after high school Mark ventured off to Detroit, Michigan where he became employed at Ford Motor Company in Sterling Heights, Michigan, where he worked 35 years retiring in October 2000.
On January 7, 1996 he wed into union with his best friend Jaquetta Combs. They spent 23 years together. Mark was a hard-working man even after retiring. He found employment at Guardian Security, where he worked as security for a senior building for 5 years. They truly loved him there. Mark was never a man to complain. He always was a man of his word and a great encourager. He would give you the shirt off his back, if he could to help you. He was a loving man, very kind and adored his grandchildren, whom he loved whole-heartedly. He loved his lottery and family poker parties where he send most us home broke.
Mark departed this life on August 19, 2019. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Jaquetta Brooks; his mother Dorothy Baker of Bluefield, West Virginia; 3 daughters, Patricia Brooks, Laticia Brooks Thompson (Paul), Tracey Brooks Daniels (Thomas); 1 son Mark Brooks, Jr. (who preceded him in death); 3 children he loved like his own, Torie Combs, Alan Combs and Rochelle Combs; 2 sisters, Connie Brooks Pannell and Joyce Brooks Watson; 3 brothers, James Brooks, David Brooks and Charles Brooks (Lisa); 10 grandchildren (WV); 26 great-grandchildren (WV); 8 grandchildren (Detroit); 5 great-grandchildren (Detroit); 2 great-nephews; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives he will truly be missed by.
