Captain Tranay Tanner, Age 29, passed away August 17, 2019.

EDUCATION AND EARLY LIFE

Tranay LaShawn Tanner was born on May 21, 1990, in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gregory Dennis Tanner I and Wendy Tranay Kahill. She grew up in Romulus, MI, where she attended the Romulus Public School System. She was a member of the Middle School and High School marching band where she played the flute from 7th to 12th grade. While attending Romulus High, she was a member of the varsity Volleyball Team from the 10th to the 12th grade. She graduated from Romulus High School on June 7, 2008.  Charismatic and friendly, Tranay made friends wherever she went. Although she hated getting hugged, she was full of life and showed her affection in many other ways.

After high school Tranay attended the United States Airforce Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado where she received her Bachelor of Science in English. While pursuing higher education, Tranay received many accolades and honors.

A Captain in the US AirForce

Captain Tranay Lashawn Tanner was the Chief, Intel Operations for Detachment 2, Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, Eglin AFB, Florida. She was responsible to the Commander for intelligence support to Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) planning and execution. Her support to test teams through Threat Working Groups, Intelligence Meetings, and threat analysis enabled robust operational testing and provided direct support to the warfighter. Captain Tanner was commissioned in 2012 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. During her career, she held a variety of positions, including Admissions Advisor at the United States Air Force Academy, Geospatial Infrared Analyst, Executive Officer, Flight Commander and Assistant Director of Operations.

A Passion to Travel the World

Tranay loved to travel and fulfilled another lifelong dream by visiting many places across the world including The Philippians, Europe, Thailand and various cruises throughout the Caribbean. She enjoyed traveling all around the world experiencing different cultures and foods. She also attended the Summer Olympics in Brazil in 2016, Winter Olympics in Seoul in 2018 and had plans to attend this upcoming Summer Olympics in Japan.

A Woman Who Fears The Lord Is To Be Praised

On August 17, 2019, Tranay went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Tranay left an indelible impression on all who knew her. She was the kind of woman that other women admired and wanted to emulate. Tranay loved to laugh, eat great food, shop, travel the world and spend time with her family and friends. She brightened whatever space she was in with her love and joyous spirit. Tranay was a woman who respectfully feared the Lord and was worthy to be praised.

Tranay leaves to cherish her memories: Parents Gregory (Julie) Tanner and Wendy (Dan) Kahill, sister Brooke Tanner, brother Gregory Tanner II, step-brother Antjuan (Jessica) Spigner, step-brother Isaiah (Dalila) Baker, step-brother Rashad Baker (Racheal Leonard), as well as a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
