Donald Thomas Cook, born on January 15, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, in Westland, Michigan. He was 77 years old.

Donald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life was anchored in deep love for his family and a steadfast commitment to his faith and community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Cook, whose partnership and companionship were a constant source of strength and fulfillment throughout their life together. Donald was the proud father of Regina Pokorny and Jeannette Cook, and cherished the close relationships he held with his son-in-law, Brian Pokorny. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Justin, and Jayden Pokorny; Kayleb, Alyna, and Kaiden Tackett; and Amelia Jedinak, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to Donald’s later years.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Angela and Raymond Cook, and his brothers, Richard, Gary, Dennis, and David Cook. The memory of those who went before him remained close to Donald's heart throughout his life, shaping the man he became and the values he passed on to younger generations.

A man of many interests, Donald generously dedicated time and resources to causes close to his heart. He donated regularly to the Donald Trump Foundation and was actively involved in the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, reflecting his enduring faith and his desire to make a difference in the world. In addition to his charitable endeavors, Donald enjoyed an active lifestyle. He was an avid fan of baseball, hockey, bowling, and swimming, finding joy both in friendly competition and quiet recreation.

Those who knew Donald remember his integrity, compassion, and unwavering devotion. He leaves behind a rich legacy of family bonds, community involvement, and a spirit that encouraged kindness and generosity in all aspects of life.

Interment will take place at Glenwood Cemetery, located at 33510 Glenwood Street, Wayne, Michigan, 48184, on August 20, 2026. 

Donald Thomas Cook will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of love, generosity, and commitment will live on through his family and everyone privileged to have known him.
