It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Leo Burlingame, who left this life on May 9, 2025, in Westland, Michigan. Born on January 18, 1965, John was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and son, leaving behind a rich tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
John was a man of many passions, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for fishing brought him peace as he cast his line into serene waters, while the thrill of racing awakened a vibrant spirit within him. The sound of music resonated through his days, offering a soundtrack to his adventures, and video games provided him joy, often shared with loved ones in spirited play. John found immense satisfaction in working on his classic car, a project that became a joyful gathering with family, truly embodying his love for togetherness and creativity.
He is survived by his father, Floyd Burlingame, and his cherished children—Angelica (Ryan) Zuccaro, Christina (Brent) Reinke and Steven Paul. John was also a proud grandfather to Mason Murphy, Alexis Murphy, Sheperd Daly, Jacob Cooper, Olivia Cooper, and Nataliah McCord, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His sister, Cathy (Bill) Wagner, also survives him, along with many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit and memory.
John's life was deeply shaped by the love and loss he experienced. He was welcomed into the arms of those who preceded him: his beloved spouse Patricia, along with his mother, Helen Burlingame, his sister, Debra Burlingame and his grandparents. The bonds he shared with his family, both living and deceased, defined him and will be honored in the stories told and the memories cherished.
As we remember John Leo Burlingame, let us celebrate the legacy of joy, laughter, and love he leaves behind. A visitation to honor his life will be held at The Husband Family Funeral Home in Westland, MI, on May 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew him to come together to share their stories, shed tears, and celebrate the remarkable life of a man who truly knew how to live—with passion, love, and a connection to those around him.
Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
