Leonard E. Bridges, Jr.

Leonard Earl Bridges, Jr., 56, of Detroit, MI passed away March 7, 2022.

Leonard Earl Bridges Jr. was born to the late Pastor Leonard Earl Bridges Sr. and Rosie Delia Bridges on June 3rd, 1965 in Gary, Indiana.  Leonard received his early education in St. Paul Minnesota attending Chelsea Heights Elementary School and Monroe High School and later relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he attended Thomas M. Cooley High School, graduating in 1984.  He loved sports and excelled in playing basketball. After the death of his mother at a young age, he was raised by his sister Bernadine Thomas and her husband James Thomas.

Leonard became a member at The Clinton Street Greater Bethlehem Temple Church of the Apostolic Faith, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior.  He was later called into the ministry to spread the Gospel.  He studied and became a Licensed Elder and professed in his prayer life.  He served under the leadership of Bishop Clarence Haddon at Unity Cathedral of Faith, Bishop Arnold K. Smith at Mt. Sinai AOH Church of God and Bishop Timothy W. Jackson I at Outreach Cathedral of Faith Ministries and assisted the ministry in the work of its drug-free youth community programs.

In 1994, he was united in holy matrimony to Jacqueline Jackson Bridges and to their union was born Leonard Earl Bridges III.  Leonard was later wed to Andrea Braxton and to their union was born Ashley and Aaron Bridges.  Leonard and his love Kimberly Stampley were blessed with two sons Matthew and Dorian Bridges.

Leonard loved cooking and worked as a Restaurant Manager in Detroit.  A great joy of his life was the opportunity to enjoy his four granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dorian Gunn, his uncle Harley Bridges, Aunt Annie Bessie Hearne-Brown, Cousins, Annie Bridges Jackson, Patrick Henry and George Thomas.

Leonard leaves to cherish his memory, his companion Ms. Donna Lyons, 4 sons and 1 daughter; Leonard E. Bridges III, Ashley (Keith) Guillory, Matthew Bridges, Dorian Bridges and Aaron Bridges; stepchildren Byron J. Davis (Precious), Brandi Luckett, Jodi Stampley , Edward (Chelsea)Garcia, Jr, Jasper Holloman Jr.; Granddaughters, Kaliah Guillory, Summer Denise Bridges, Avah Bridges, Kalayah Guillory; brother Louis Barney (Louise), step-mother Helen Bridges, sister Bernadine Thomas (James), brother John Jacob Gunn Jr., nieces and nephews Benjamin James Thomas,  Berith Thomas, Krystal Russell, Tikia Walker, Tanisha Jones, Daniel Garland, Rowmeris Perry, John Jacob Gunn III, Damien Gunn, Dorian Gunn; cousins Dr. Glenda Bridges Groce, Sandra Bridges Crockett, Sharon Bridges Napier, Harley Bridges Jr., Florence (Gene) Bridges Howard,  Betty Johnson, Gwen Henderson, Ronald (Doris) Hearne, Loretta  (Pastor Douglas) Thames, Bryant (Delores), Carl Jones, Jackie Hester; and a host of relatives and friends.
