Paul "Pops" Anderson

May 17, 1949 — May 17, 2025

Taylor, MI

Paul Robert Anderson thundered off into the sunset on May 17, 2025. He was born to Marvin Neal and Sudie Allene (nee Pack) Anderson on May 17, 1949, and was a lifelong resident of Taylor, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Luwanna Arlene (nee Irving), sisters Mary Kathleen “Kat” McFarlin (Stanley) and Virginia Sue “Jenna” Stacy, his “Brother-from-another-mother” Ronny Lamentola, and his nephew Luther Neal “Luke” Stacy. He is survived by his son Marvin Paul Anderson, daughter-in-law Tracey Cosgrove, Nephew Keith Paul Anderson, “adopted daughter” Bev Miller, and many other nieces and nephews. Known as “Pops” and “Papa Paul” to his blood and adopted family members, Paul was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Paul began wrenching on cars and motorcycles as a teenager and made that his career. He was known far and wide as the guy who could fix just about anything. If you were ever on the side of the road with car trouble in the Downriver area, there is a decent chance that Paul stopped to help you out. When he wasn’t fixing broken-down vehicles or restoring classic cars, he was out looking for deals at yard sales or crawling around junked cars (probably at Bishop’s Auto Wrecking). And if he wasn’t doing any of those things, he was on his front porch visiting and “telling lies” with his neighbors.

His passing leaves a big hole in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

We miss you, Pops. And from now on, whenever we hear thunder in the distance, we know it’s you firing up your Harley to go for one more ride.

A celebration of life for Paul and Arlene will be held at their home on June 28, 2025. If you wish to honor their memories, please consider donating to a veterans or animal welfare charity.
