Sydney Barrington Forrester, Jr., 48, of Canton, MI passed away April 18, 2026.

Sydney Barrington Forrester was born on July 16, 1977, in Chicago, Illinois, to Sydney and Barbara Forrester. He accepted Christ at an early age while attending elementary school. Sydney began his education at Saint Eleanor Elementary School. He then continued his studies at Gompers Magnet School. After middle school, he matriculated to Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, where he consistently earned placement on the Principal’s Honor Roll until his graduation in 1995.

During his time at Whitney Young, Sydney developed a deep passion for music and became a member of the school band, where he played the saxophone. He was also actively involved in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program and club.

Following high school, Sydney was accepted to Kettering University (formerly GMI) in Flint, Michigan. There he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Chemical Engineering, graduating summa cum laude in 2000. Driven by his thirst for knowledge, Sydney continued his education at Michigan State University, pursuing graduate studies in Environmental and Chemical Engineering. He later transferred to the University of Michigan to continue his academic journey where he expanded his studies even further by enrolling in a Computer Engineering program, completing both programs simultaneously. He ultimately earned both a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering and a Master’s degree in Environmental and Chemical Engineering.

From 2005 to 2010, Sydney was employed at Comcast as a Technical Operational Support Specialist. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Lranda Gail. In 2010, seeking new opportunities, he accepted a position with Blue Cross Blue Shield as a System Analyst Programmer, where he remained employed until the time of his passing.

Sydney was united in holy matrimony with Lranda Gail on June 22, 2010, and they remained devoted to one another until his passing. From this union, one son, Barrington, was born.

Sydney departed this life on April 18, 2026. He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara, sister Kelly and brothers Lionell, Lewis, and Lawrence.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lranda Gail Forrester; his children, Barrington, Alexis, Atiyah, and Andre Jr.; his father, Sydney Sr.; his brother, Phillip; his sisters, Lynnette, Paula and Leatrice; three grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
