Christine Barker

d. February 22, 2021

Christine Joyce Robinson, 70, of Lathrup Village, MI made her transition peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Christine was born January 25, 1951 in Cotton Plant Arkansas, the daughter of the late Mr. Gus Sr. and Mrs. Edna Mae Robinson. Proceeded in death by her siblings, sister Theresa Roberts, brother Isiah Robinson, brother Gus Robinson Jr., and sister Barbara Taylor.

Christine was the baby of the Robinson family and she loved helping her father with the family business. This is where she first developed her entrepreneurial spirit. After high school, she left Cotton Plant and moved to Chicago to be with her big brother, Gus Jr. While pregnant with Steven, her big sister and protector moved her to Michigan. Christine settled in Michigan with her sisters and they became the dynamic trio. After 11 years, Christine welcomed her second son, Aaron. Christine was a loving mother, and her two sons were her world.

Christine was employed at General Motors Corporation for over 20 years. While working at General Motors, Christine reaffirmed and accepted Christ as her savor and would eventually become the plants Chaplain. She would preach and pray while working on the production line. Christine was faithful, loyal, and obedient to Gods word. Christine was a true believer and God was her healer. She knew that God was Lord of Lords and King of Kings, and those who are with him are called the chosen and faithful. Christine became a minister and loved to fellowship with her family, church, and friends.

During retirement, Christine started her purse business, Pure Styles. Christine was known as the “Purse Lady,” she would sell you a purse at any function, church, family event, and even her late sister’s retirement home. She even sold purses in her final stages at her rehabilitation facility. She was passionate about her business.

Christine loved to travel and stayed on road. Christine and her friends would travel to Chicago, Kentucky, and Arkansas often. Christine did what Christine wanted to do. She loved her two sons and made sure they knew she was in charge at all times.

Christine fought a good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith. She leaves to cherish her life and legacy, two sons Steven Robinson and Aaron (Shana) Barker; four grandchildren, Kevin, Jerimiah, Amaurii, and Levi; two great grandchildren Ariyah and Kashious; several nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends.
