Eddie Rae Hayes, 64, of Canton, MI passed away December 22, 2021.

Eddie Rae Hayes was born on June 29, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan to Eddie Rae and Lula Hayes, both preceded him in death.  Eddie was the eighth child of ten (10) children. The siblings who preceded him in death were James Hayes, Lorraine Knowles, BaBette Hayes and Mabel Hayes and Carolyn Hill.

Eddie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and continued to love the Lord as evidenced by his offerings of solace and prayer for anyone in need.

Eddie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cooley High School in 1976.   After graduation from Cooley High, Eddie joined the Air Force.   Following the Air Force, he attended Wayne State University.

His security career began at Guardsmark in Detroit, as well as providing security for Technicolor, following through to security work for Greektown Casino and Walmart.

During his time at Greektown, Eddie met and courted a lovely lady Cesaree’ Wash and married her at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church on August 21, 2004.

“Rae,” as he is sometimes called, had compassion for comic books and science fiction.  He amassed, an amazing collection of many First editions and rare versions of DC and Marvel comic books.  His favorite in that series of science fiction was Circa 1960s Star Trek I.  His Family recalls his absolute joy when listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, Lou Rawls and The Commodores.  During those times, he would interact with his big brother Anthony and two cousins that were like brothers, Dennis  and the Late Geno Williams.  They were referred to as The Three Amigos.  Those were considered “Good Times!”

Eddie made his transition on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 and leaves to cherish a sincerely devoted, dedicated and loving wife Cesaree’ Wash-Hayes, two daughters: Paris Zion, his eldest daughter Denise Burgess (DeAngelo) grandchildren: Diamond, DeAngelo, Jr., Devona and DeAngela.   Four sisters: Barbara Vernon (Victor), Julie Sullivan-Rollins, Janelle Sullivan-Oubre and a brother Anthony Hayes and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
