Georgia A. Williams

d. September 14, 2019

Georgia A. Williams, Age 88, of River Rouge, MI passed away September 14, 2019.

Georgia Arlene Williams was born on June 9, 1931 to the late Singleton and MaeMy Dora Tate in Alberton, GA. Georgia was one of fourteen children born to this union.  Her father relocated to Inkster, Michigan in 1933 for a better life for his family.  Georgia’s family became members of Beulah Baptist Church.  Georgia attended Inkster High School and graduated in 1950.

Georgia’s father, Rev. Singleton Tate, was a minister and taught his family the word of GOD during which time Georgia received Christ as her savior.  As she got older, Georgia desired to learn more about Christ and became a member of the Cathedral of Faith. She taught Sunday School and became a Soul Winner for Christ going door to door talking with people about how good GOD is and wanted to make sure you knew Christ. Georgia was a dedicated woman of GOD and anytime she had company at her home, she would always ask, “Are you saved? Do you know Christ?”  Without hesitation, she made sure you knew, and the seed was planted!

Georgia worked at General Motors Company for 11 years where she was an outstanding master seamstress, sewing car seat covers and head rests.  Georgia showcased fashion shows of her work, sewing for large wedding parties, creating personal designs of her own and becoming more and more accomplished as a seamstress. Georgia’s entrepreneurial spirit stayed with her for decades and her sewing skills were well known in her community.

Georgia met and married Otis Lee Williams (predeceased) and to this union they had three children: Reginald, Wanda and Michele.  Georgia traveled with her husband and children to visit her in-laws in Macon, Mississippi and enjoyed family and friends.

Georgia was truly a woman of GOD and had a great sense of human and a comedic side to her as well.  She knew how to make you laugh and opened her door to anyone that needed help.

Georgia made her transition on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Lord Taylor Nursing Home. She leaves to cherish her memories, 3 children Reginald Otis Williams, Wanda Shermane (Steve) Fullum and Michele Lynn Christopher; 8 grandchildren Guessner Williams, Marguerite (Donte’) Thompson, Edith (Dale) Clausen, Angela (Luther) Dabbs, Erika Stevens, Sharita Wright, Clayton Stevens IV and Otis (LaShanna) Williams; 10 great grandchildren Ashlyn Williams, Makaylyn Williams, Brianna Johnson, Julian Williams, Jessica Wright, Shermarian Christopher, Donte’ Thompson II, Otis Williams Jr.,  Ezekiel Clausen and Josiah Williams; 2 sister-in-laws Ida Williams and Vernice Williams and a host of nieces and nephews.
