Orajanet Harris, 94, formerly of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at her residence in Oak Park, Michigan. She was born August 2, 1927 in Springfield, Ohio to Theodore and Gladys Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Derrell Cordell and Allan Cordell; daughters, Jeanine C. (Pettiford) Leonard, Marcia Pettiford; two grandchildren she raised as her own, Charles Pettiford and Tochara Leonard; other grandchildren include, Tomica Jones, Charles Kiomonte Hall, Matthew Pettiford, and Ulluminair Salim; great-grandchildren, Dominic Pettiford, Michael, Mershawn, Morgan, Craig, and Orajanet Leonard, Colin Jones and Miles Harper; sister-in-law, Minnie Boyd; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Harris; daughter, Janet E. (Pettiford) Hall; son, John W. Cordell, Jr.; parents, Theodore and Gladys Jenkins; brothers, Richard, Robert and Davis Lamar Jenkins; sister, Jane (Jenkins) Monegain; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She will be missed for her welcoming smile, willingness to help others and her strong love for God, family and friends.
Orajanet will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, Charles Harris at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W. Third St., Dayton, OH 45428.
