Peggy Mildred Harris, 88, of Romulus, MI passed away October 8, 2020.

Peggy Mildred Harris was born to the late James and Mollie Williams on July 6, 1932, in Shelby, North Carolina.  She was the fourth of four children.  She received Christ at an early age at Shiloh First Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. R. J. Davidson.

In 1948, Mother Harris relocated to Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Northeastern High School, where she played on the Woman’s Basketball Team.  She received her Associate Degree in Business Administration at South Macomb Community College in Warren Michigan.

In 1951 she married Felton Harris Sr. and to this union five children were born – Felton Jr., Deldre, Maurice, Danny and Iwieta.

Upon relocating to Detroit, Michigan she became a member of the Leland Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Eugene Rhodes.  With much prayer she moved her membership to Nehemiah Missionary Baptist Church to aid and assist her son Bishop Felton Harris Jr. in this newly formed ministry.  Mother Harris became an Ordain Elder under the ministry name change to Nehemiah Word of Faith Full Gospel Baptist Church.  Mother’s preaching and teaching truly became a blessing to many.  She was well versed and knowledgeable of the scriptures and able to break it down to where you could understand God’s Word.

Bishop Harris relocated to Richwood Texas and started The House of Prayer and Praise Ministries.  Mother Harris moved her membership presently to Romulus Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hiram McBarrow.  Mother Harris continued to serve in The Lord’s Kingdom by teaching the Mid- Day Bible Study.

Mother Harris was employed by the United States Government up to her retirement. She received many awards and accolades from the Department of the Army for Exceptional Performance and a Certificate of Recognition in support of Operation Desert Storm.  After retirement she volunteer with the VNA Hospice and received a certificate for being a caring volunteer to the hospice patients and their families.

Mother Harris had a strong faith in God. She shared her beliefs with others to encourage them. She loved her family and friends.  Once you had a place in her heart you were there forever.

Mother leaves her precious love and memories to her husband Felton Harris Sr., including her children, Felton Harris  Jr. (Patricia), Deldre Harris, Maurice Harris (Augusta), Danny Harris, and Iwieta Harris. She was cherish by her beloved grandchildren Anegelica Booker (who preceded her in death), Adam Harris, Danielle Spinks, Jamiela Sullivan, Krystal Baker, Errol J. Sims, Caleb Sims, Joi Sims and (15) great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. Mother’s very special ones were Saundra Collier, Gerald Scruggs and Jacqueline Scruggs.

Mother Harris’ early journey came to an end on Thursday October 8, 2020.  She was greeted at heaven’s gate by her brother Cornell Williams, sister Ruth Williams, sister Virginia Scruggs, father James Williams and mother Mollie Williams.
