Sammy Earl Bourn

Sammy Earl Bourn, Age 70, of Redford, MI passed away November 17, 2019.

Sammy (Sam) Earl Bourn was born on July 25, 1949 to the late Jessie Lee and Elma Bourn in Georgetown, Mississippi. He was the oldest of five children, one of which preceded him in death.

As a young man, Sam moved to Inkster, Michigan. Upon graduation from Robichaud High School, he enlisted in the Army Branch of the U.S. Military. During his service, he was awarded with a National Defense Service Medal and received Sharpshooter (Rifle M-16) recognition. Sam received an honorable discharge in 1972. After returning to the United States, Sam married his high school sweetheart Sandra Conerly on July 15, 1972. To this union with Sandra (preceded in death), two beautiful daughters were born. In 1975, Sam began his lifelong employment with General Motors and consistently worked there until his retirement.

On July 5, 2011, Sam was granted a second chance at love and married his best friend, Chelli Jefferson. Although there were no children born into this union, Sam inherited a bonus daughter, whom he loved dearly. Sam experienced his final moments of love on August 20, 2019. After 49 years of communication through postal mail, he was finally able to embrace a fourth daughter who had traveled from Petrinja, Croatia to visit him.

Sam loved his family, his music in all things technology. He was known for his “green thumb” and could fix any electrical gadget on earth.

Sam leaves to cherish his memory, a wife, Chelli Jefferson; three daughters, Sandra (Goran) Lucic’ of Croatia, Carmilla Bourn and Shariess (Dale) Saffold; three siblings, Jessie Bourn of Mississippi, Nancy Bourn of Michigan and Karen Bourn of Mississippi; six grandchildren, DeAndre’, Mariah, Ronald III, Jaelen, Kendall and Kourtney; a bonus daughter, Pia Wrighten and bonus grandchildren, Eryn, Kameron, Yasmine,  Daijon, Romel, Jermaine and Nehemiah; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
