Theodore "Ted" Harris

Theodore "Ted" Harris, 76, of Taylor, MI passed away March 17, 2023.

Theodore “Ted” Harris was born May 22, 1947 to Theodore and Mary Harris who preceded him in death in Detroit, Michigan. Theodore was the eldest of 3 children: Ronald Harris (who preceded him in death), and Elaine Harris of Livonia, Michigan.

Theodore was baptized at People’s Community Baptist Church where the entire family served.

Theodore was educated in the Inkster Public School Systems, graduated from Inkster High School in 1965. During his school years he was a super star athlete playing his favorite sports basketball and football. Theodore met and married his high school sweetheart Dorothy Burnell in 1968. Theodore served 2 years in United States Navy assigned to the USS Cowell. He served 6 years in Naval Reserve as Machinists Mate.

In 1968, Theodore began his 53 year career journey with Chrysler of which he retired January 2020. During his tenure Theodore was a UAW millwright and eventually joined the ranks of management.

In September 1969, Theodore and Dorothy had their first child Chenauda Harris (Joe) and in 1974 their second child Albert Harris (Jennifer).

In December 1991, Theodore became a Grandfather to Jasmine Harris. In April 1998, Alec Harris the first Grandson was born. In February 2000, Allysa Grove (Ethan) was the last grandchild. In October 2022, Theodore became a Great Grandfather to Landon Grove.

In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, casino trips, family gatherings, and watching Ion, and shows on USA. Theodore enjoyed working at Chrysler and continuing the family legacy.

Over the last few years Theodore’s health declined. On March 17, 2023 God called him home. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
